Location status & Info - Hotel del Salto was built in 1928 for wealthy tourists visiting the nearby Tequendama Falls. Eventually, the waterfall was contaminated and visitors lost interest, leading to the hotel’s abandonment.

Częstochowa Train Depot - Poland
Location status & Info -Part of the Kingdom of Prussia and the expanding Russian empire from the late 18th century until the outbreak of World War One, the city of Czestochowa entered the 20th century as one of the leading industrial centres of Russian Poland. Its success was in part due to the opening of the Warsaw-Vienna Railway in 1846, which linked the city to the rest of Europe. Nowadays, Czestochowa is a tourist hub attracting millions of visitors and pilgrims each year. And with six railway stations, it’s little wonder that a train depot or two should become abandoned along the sprawling network.
Wonderland Amusement Park - Beijing, China
Location status & Info - Designed to be the biggest amusement park in Asia, Wonderland was never completed after financial issues. The land has since been cultivated by local farmers.

Mimaland Theme Park - Malaysia
Location status & Info - The biggest recreation park/water park in Southeast Asia on 1971.
Mimaland started dating in 1971. The name Mimaland is actually an acronym of the word combination Malaysia In Miniature Land. Mimaland was built in a hilly area of 300 acres in Ulu Gombak near Kuala Lumpur. It was owned by Mimaland Berhad, a member of Magnum Group of Companies (now Magnum Corporation).
Mimaland construction was done in phases and opened in stages. Mimaland's first phase was completed in 1970, which consisted of 24 motels, 5 chalets and a swimming pool.
Among the main attractions, Mimaland initially is 'prehistoric animal park' containing building dinosaur models of very impressive size. Additionally, Mimaland also had several other parts, which included a lake for boating and fishing activities, the 'giant maze', as well as for cross-forest area.
After years of operating Mimaland, a 27-year-old Singaporean was killed in an accident at the giant surf board Mimaland in January 1993. The unfortunate incident shocked the public and forced the temporary closing Mimaland including the affected areas of the pool and boards. After improvement work was done, Mimaland opened back up to the public. However, a minor landslide caused damage to the walls of the same pool in May 1994. This incident caused muddy water to seep into the pool, causing the area to close to the public.
Several parties, including government agencies had to drag the management Mimaland to court on a number of offenses alleged, among which are weaknesses in security controls, as well as being the cause of some problems. During the trial the court was prevented from continuing Mimaland's operations. The consequences can no longer survive without the operation, Mimaland finally had to close its doors forever in 1994. Mimaland relics still exist to this day.
Michigan Central Station - Detroit, Michigan
Location status & Info - Built through 1912 and 1913, Central Station served as the passenger rail depot for Detroit and was the tallest train station in the world. With the closure of the line in 1988, Central Station fell into disuse and all restoration plans have failed.
Hashima Island, Japan
Location status & Info - In the past Hashima Island was rich in coal, with over 5000 miners once living on the island. When petrol replaced coal as Japan's main source of fuel, the settlement was left abandoned. Now the once thriving town is creepily abandoned, with only shadows remaining.
Chateau Miranda - Celles, Belgium
Location status & Info - The castle was originally built by French aristocrats fleeing the revolution. During and after World War II, Miranda Castle was used as an orphanage. It was abandoned in 1980, with the family refusing to allow authorities to care for the structure. Because of its past, this haunting castle remains a favourite amongst ghost hunters.
Disney’s Discovery Island - Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Location status & Info - A former wildlife attraction in the heart of Disney World, it is rumoured that the island was left to run wild after bacteria capable of killing humans was discovered in the surrounding water.
Bannerman Castle - Pollepel Island, New York
Location status & Info - Bannerman Castle's owner, Francis Bannerman VI, built the structure as storage space after buying the American military surplus from the war with the Spanish. After 200lbs of ammunition exploded in 1920, much of the castle was destroyed and the rest abandoned.
Six Flags Jazzland - New Orleans, Louisiana
Location status & Info - Severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Six Flags Jazzland has been abandoned since. Several of the rides still stand, a testimony to the resilience of New Orleans. Several companies have plans to develop the park, but until then it will remain as the perfect setting for a horror movie.
Willard Asylum - Willard, New York
Location status & Info - Willard Asylum for the Chronic Insane was built in 1869 and closed in 1995. Housing 4000 patients at its peak, more than half of the 50,000 patients who called Willard Asylum their home died within its walls. This makes the asylums morgue (pictured above) one of the creepiest places we can imagine. By its closure, most patients were eventually integrated back into society, but in the early days "people didn't leave unless it was in a box."
Ryugyong Hotel - Pyongyang, North Korea
Location status & Info - The Ryugyong Hotel is a true display of North Korea's madness. Work started on this 105 story hotel only a few years before a massive famine plagued the country. Abandoned for 16 years, work once again began in 2008, when it was coated in $150 million worth of glass. Foreign guests have reported that although the structure now looks complete on the outside, a lot of the interior is still abandoned and incomplete.
Farmhouse - Seneca Lake, New York
Location status & Info - This abandoned farmhouse in New York state also acts as a graveyard for many vintage cars which are now empty shells of their former selves.
