TERJUN DARI ANGKASA

Felix Baumgartner, telah berjaya terjun dari angkasa. Mak oooiii.....

Pecah rekod 52 tahun Joe Kittinger (pilo t u.s. airforce) yg terjun 19.5 batu (31.2km) dari angkasa. Rekod baru 24 batu (38.4km). Naik keta sat ja sampai ni. Dia terjun 8 minit je sampai bumi, 

Bahaya yg menanti Felix adalah mungkin akan berpusing2 hingga dia pengsan, baju tekanan rosak masa terjun dari kapsul, yg akan mendedahkan beliau kepada kekurangan oksigen dan suhu -70 darjah, 'darah mendidih', bukan darah jadi panas tapi terbentuk gelembung2 udara yg berbahaya dalam darah. 

Kittinger pernah pengsan, nasib baik payung automatik buka pada ketinggian 10,000kaki. Pernah krem tgn pasal tekanan tinggi, tp terjun gak, sampai bumi (tanah la) dalam masa 4min 36saat dari ketinggian 102,800kaki. 

Dengan kelajuan maksimum 1,342km/j, Mach 1.24, kadar lebih pantas dari kelajuan bunyi. Perrgghhh....Manusia pertama berjaya melepasi kelajuan bunyi.......

Alhamdulillah....boleh terjun lagi....

Do you have a problem room?

We all have them, those rooms that defy all you know about design, and just continue to go about their merry way creating problems no matter what you do with them. I managed to create a monster a quarter of a century ago right  in the middle of my house because  my mind was focused on other things at the time. I've spent the intervening  years trying to make my dining room "right" by my standards - I haven't achieved that yet. 

No one has ever walked into my house and said "OMG, what a mess this dining room is."  So what's wrong with it  in my eyes?

Location:  When you're standing in my entry  you look directly into the dining room.  The archway frames the table and the window.  It is also a walk through space from the living room  on the right  to the kitchen which is to the left.

 

There is an alternate hallway beside the stairs, but we never go that way. My dining room is the room in the middle with no identity. Because the walkway needs to be maintained  only half the room is really accessible for  the table - problem #1.

I noticed another problem when I looked at this photo but it was easily fixed. Can you spot the fix?

Furniture: The dining room buffets, table, and chairs were handcrafted, especially for me, by my man who can do anything.  The set has that "casual contemporary with a nod toward mid -century modern look" that I love.    The scale and style fits the room and the buffets are nicely tucked away behind the table.  Have you noticed problem #2 yet?

A rather dark  view  from the living room.  Thankfully the railings aren't that orange!

You're right! The furniture is the same height as the railing causing your eye to run along the lines and never go anywhere else. I've used all my tricks to make it otherwise, with minimal success. Note all the verticals - floor lamp, tall twigs, candle sticks, vertical artwork, accentuated vertical windows in living room.  The strength of the horizontal lines and the preponderance of wood wins out every time.

Problem #3
The aged oak is so orange- my least favourite tone in wood. Because I can't rip it all up or throw away the furniture, I've decided to embrace the orange  and pick it up in interesting art works that also have lots of purples and blues to tame down the orange.  

Problem #4 

Because the furniture is in one half of the room, there isn't enough space  for an area rug which would keep the furniture from blending into the floor.  If I wanted to use an area rug I would have to cover most of the floor, but that would mean vacuuming;  I would rather use a dust mop! 

Problem #5

I have a love/ hate relationship with the railing.  It is solid wood, has a good design and fits with the age of the house and our design aesthetic. I have strong feelings about maintaining "period "architectural detailing and the railing is necessary because the living room is sunken.  But it is soooo difficult to ignore that orangey railing..  It didn't look like this in 1986.  Time ages wood to either orange or yellow especially when treated with oil based products.  

 

Lighting

The light fixture was an impulse buy  because I liked the lines,  but its scale is too small, and it is hung too high in my efforts to make sure you could see the painting at the end of the room.   As an artist, art always takes precedent over every other design  decision in my house.  This often leads me into hot water.

Problem # 7

You may be thinking at this point why doesn't she have the walls pained a cooler neutral.  Can't happen because the living room, where most of the light comes from, is north facing and the house next door blocks off any light in the dining room.  Both rooms are dull and cold.  The living room is  Elephant Tusk OC 8 Benjamin Moore and the dining room is Light Khaki  BM 2148-40.

Window treatment

I love these back tab drapes for the subtle design and their softness,  but the necessity to crop them to allow for the buffet further emphasizes all the horizontal lines. I also think I should have a window treatment that covers the window in some way so you can't see the wall of the next house with is very close to the window and certainly not interesting.

Problem # 9
I have an aversion to matched sets of furniture and here I am living with just that. Matching always looks so uninspired in my eyes and gives the appearance of laziness.  Like you couldn't be bothered to put the room together.  Yes I like a curated room and I have a bundled set!

I'm sure if I really tried I could find a Problem 10.  Many of you may feel it is the lack of cove mouldings, but that again is not part of the architectural details of the original house. 

 Well that about explains the problems. Who knew there was so much wrong with my dining room?  Most of my friends would be very surprised by this analysis!  In the next post I'll look at some possible solutions.  If you have anything to suggest that might help with my design dilemmas, I'd love to hear from you.

Empayar Islam Turki Uthmaniyah yang dilaknat

Sejarah yang dibaca oleh kita tidak menghuraikan dengan teliti faktor utama yang mengakibatkan kejatuhan empayar Turki Uthmaniyah. Fakta yang sering dikaitkan dengan sejarah Turki Uthmaniyah ialah penaklukan Konstantinople dan pentadbiran diktator Yahudi, Mustapa Kamal Atarturk. Sedangkan, dalam agenda untuk menjatuhkan Turki Uthmaniyah, Mustapa Kamal hanya berfungsi sebagai pemuka hadapan yang menggepalai pentadbiran moden selepas era Uthmaniyah. Dalam erti kata lain, kedatangannya adalah selepas WW1 yakni selepas kejatuhan ekonomi Turki Uthmaniyah. Kejatuhan sebenar Turki Uthmaniyah bukanlah disebabkan oleh faktor Mustapa Kamal Atarturk tetapi adalah disebabkan oleh ekonomi dan sistem bank.

Dalam buku Historic Crities of the Islamic World, karangan Clifford Edmond (2007) menyebut bahawa kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah telah menjalinkan hubungan kewangan dengan satu keluarga elit Yahudi dalam urusan perbankan, iaitu keluarga Alvaro Mendez dari Sepanyol. Bank kepunyaan Mendes ini telah menaja banyak projek kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah sejak 1588.

Edhem Eldem yakni seorang pensyarah Turki dari Universiti Bogazici, menyebut bahawa idea memodenkan empayar Turki melalui pinjaman kewangan datang dari desakan Gerakan Tanzimat pimpinan Mustapa Rashid Pasha, Ali Pasha, Fuad Pasha, Ahmet Pasha dan Midhat Pasha. Kesemua mereka dipercayai ahli birokrat berpendidikan Inggeris. Keturunan 'Pasha' ketika Turki Uthmaniyah berada dibawah kekuasaan Raja sebaik-baik Raja yakni Sultan Mehmet, pernah memainkan peranan penting untuk menakluk Konstantinople. Namun, ia berbeza sekali dengan Pasha didalam Gerakan Tanzimat.

Idea pemodenan yang dibawa oleh Gerakan Tanzimat ini telah berjaya mempengaruhi Sultan Mahmud II dan Sultan Abdul Mecid. Gerakan ini membawa slogan retorik perubahan baru iaitu kerajaan Turki pada masa hadapan adalah sebuah kerajaan yang mampu menyatupadukan orang Muslim dan bukan Muslim, orang Turki, Greek, Armenia, Yahudi, Kurdis dan Arab.

Khalifah Turki Uthmaniyah pada ketika itu merasakan pemodenan tanpa mengira bangsa seperti slogan ini adalah sesuatu yang boleh menaikkan kehebatan kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah. Akibat terpesona dengan idea-idea kumpulan muslihat Ali Pasha, maka semua cadangan telah digunapakai.

Rasulullah s.a.w. melaknat pemakan, pemberi, saksi dan penulis riba sebagaimana dalam sebuah hadis sahih, Jabir melaporkan bahawa: “Rasulullah s.a.w melaknat orang yang memakan riba, memberi (membayar) riba, kedua- dua saksi dan penulisnya, dan baginda bersabda, golongan ini semuanya adalah sama”. (Muslim).

Pada 1854, khalifah Turki Uthmaniyah telah melakukan satulangkah yang paling tidak bermoral yang sekaligus telah melanggar syariat yang melarang urusniaga riba. Kerajaan Uthmaniyah secara rasminya telah membuat pinjaman sebanyak 3 juta pound sterling yang diurus syarikat Dent, Palmers & Co. Kemudian, pada 1855, pinjaman yang dibuat oleh kerajaan Turki bertambah lagi sebanyak 5 juta pound sterling dan kali ini ia diruskan pula oleh bank Rothschild yang berpusat di London.

“Hai orang-orang yang beriman! Bertakwalah kepada Allah dan tinggalkanlah sisa-sisa riba (yang belum dipungut) jika kamu orang yang beriman. Maka jika kamu tidak mengerjakan (meninggal sisa-sisa riba), maka ketahuilah bahawa Allah dan Rasul-Nya memerangimu…” (al-Baqarah, 2: 278-279).

Kerajaan Islam Turki Uthmaniyah yang berpegang kepada hukum syarak telah melakukan kesilapan pada 1854 dengan menerima pakai sistem riba. Pinjaman berjumlah 8 juta pound sterling itu mewajipkan kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah membayar bunga sebanyak 10 peratus dalam tempoh setahun. Dengan ini, wajarlah Allah SWT memberikan bala dengan menjatuhkan empayar Islam Turki Uthmaniyah yang telah ingkar dengan ajaran Islam, ditangan diktator Yahudi (juga ahli Freemason) Mustapa Kamal Atarturk pada 1922.

Berikut adalah senarai pinjaman yang dibuat oleh kerajaan Turki kepada bank Rothschild di London:

1. 1854 - 3000000 pound sterling. Bunga 6%.
2. 1855 - 8000000 pound sterling. Bunga 4%.
3. 1858 - 5000000 pound sterling. Bunga 6%.
4. 1862 - 8000000 pound sterling. Bunga 6%.
5. 1863 - 8000000 pound sterling. Bunga 2%.
6. 1865 - 6000000 pound sterling. Bunga 6%.

Senarai diatas hanyalah sebahagian daripada pinjaman yang dibuat oleh kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah. Hakikatnya, pinjaman berjumlah beratus-ratus juta pound terus-menerus dilakukan oleh kerajaan khalifah (hasil desakan ejen-ejen Yahudi didalam pentadbiran Turki) sejak 1854. Pinjaman ini berlaku sehinggalah pada tahun 1914, dan dianggarkan sebanyak lebih 30 pinjaman telah dilakukan. Jumlah ini sebenarnya sudah cukup membuatkan Turki Uthmaniyah jatuh bankrap sebelum WW1.

Sehingga kini, walaupun Turki sudah berubah kepimpinan daripada sekular kepada pro-Islamik, namun ekonominya tetap dipegang oleh Yahudi menerusi sistem riba yang mula digunapakai oleh khalifah Islam sejak zaman Uthmaniyah lagi.
