Siri pengembaraan ke Turki masih belum tamat, kali ini kita melawat pula Museum Hagia Sophea.
Located at the SULTANAHMET Square opposite to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophea after serving 916 years as a church and 481 years as a mosque, now maintain its historical function as a museum since 1935 and is the most important monument of the architechural history.
Byzantine historians Theophanes, Nikepheros and Leon, the grammar teacher of Byzantine wrote that construction of Hagia Sophea started during the reign of Constantinius I (324 - 337) and completed in 360 during the reign of Constantinius II. Its first name was Megali Eklesia (The Great Church) and it was changed to Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) after 5th century.
This is the third church was constructed after the first and second were largely burnt down during the riot. Construction of the Hagia Sophea started in 532 and completed within the period of 5 years.

Hagia Sophea with its glory and magnificience has survived to the present time and is one of the gratest example of early Byzantine architecture and also bears traces of traditional Roman architecture and Eastern Art.

Apabila Istanbul ditawan oleh Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh, beliau telah memerintahkan Hagia Sophia dibersihkan dan ditukar menjadi sebuah mesjid. Kelihatan tanda-tanda peninggalan yang membuktikan bahawa ia pernah menjadi sebuah mesjid suatu masa dahulu, seperti kalimah Allah dan Muhammad, nama-nama 4 orang khalifah Ar-Rasyidin di tiang-tiang utama.
